Korea and the U.S. in the latest round of negotiations last week failed to come to an agreement on sharing the upkeep of the U.S. Forces Korea.
The Foreign Ministry said the talks will resume "in the near future."
The government had estimated Korea's share of the upkeep next year to be around W900 billion (US$1=W1,054), up from this year's W869.5 billion allowing for inflation. But the U.S., which is cutting its defense budget, wants Korea to increase its share to W1 trillion.
The gap could not be narrowed in this round of talks.
