No. of Newly Employed Jumps 588,000 in November

The number of people who have newly found jobs soared by nearly 600,000 in November, the largest rate of growth in over a year.

Data from Statistics Korea shows that over 588,000 people found work last month, bringing the number of employed in the nation to over 25 million.

The agency attributes the surge to more recruitment in the public health and social welfare service sectors.

The situation was less optimistic for young people, however, as their unemployment rate rose to 7.5 percent last month, up 0.8 percentage point from November 2012.
