Up to 5 cm of snow made travel difficult for commuters in Seoul on Wednesday morning. Heavy snow warnings were issued for the capital as well as Gyeonggi, Gangwon and North Chungchoeng provinces on Tuesday. The warning is issued when over 5 cm of snowfall is forecast within the next 24 hours.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the nation was forecast to see a comparatively large amount of snow due to a low-pressure trough on Wednesday. But snow was forecast to stop across the country by the afternoon.
The cold spell was also expected to continue on Wednesday with the morning low at -2 degrees Celsius and the day's high at only 1 degree in Seoul. Due to a cold mass advancing from the north, strong winds are expected to add a chill factor.
It will snow again nationwide on Thursday, a weatherman said.
