Hyundai Lures Returning Customers with Loyalty Points

Hyundai will revamp its loyalty program to encourage returning customers, offering discounts of up to 3 percent to drivers who buy a second or third Hyundai car. They also can use mileage points for maintenance or other services.

Mileage benefits also increase according the number of purchases. First-time buyers can earn mileage equal to 0.7 percent of the car's price, second-time buyers 1.1 percent, third-time buyers 1.5 percent, and so forth. Family members can share their mileage.

"Foreign cars are taking customers away from us," a Hyundai executive said, but with the loyalty program the automaker hopes to expand its faithful base.
