The Education Ministry has ordered the publishers of seven of eight government-authorized history textbooks to revise 41 errors or "biased descriptions" of major events in history, including the 2010 sinking of the Navy corvette Cheonan and North Korean human rights abuses.
The ministry reviewed the textbooks after opposition lawmakers and liberal historians criticized one of the books, saying it contains factual errors and what they described as a rightwing bias.
The ministry said if the publishers fail to comply, it will halt publication of the books.
