A local Korean broadcaster reported on Thursday that Samsung Lions closer Oh Seung-hwan has finalized a deal with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan's professional baseball league. But no other sources have yet confirmed the news.
However, other reports are surfacing to the effect that the deal is close to being signed. It is believed to be a two-year deal worth 900 million yen, or roughly US$8.9 million. Of this, 200 million yen would go to the Lions in the form of a transaction fee.
If the deal is confirmed it would mark the highest sum any Korean baseball player has received from Japan.
