Industrial output dropped in September, casting a cloud over expectations that the economy may be on a moderate recovery path.
Statistics Korea said production in the mining, manufacturing and gas industries fell 2.1 percent last month. From a year earlier, output was down 3.6 percent.
The decline was attributed to partial strikes at some of the nation's automakers.
