Park Chu-young of Arsenal in the English Premier League will be joining Wigan Athletic in the second-tier Championship on loan, according to local media.
"[Park] is not in Arsène Wenger's plans and wants first team football to push for a place in his country's World Cup squad. Wigan manager Owen Coyle wants a new frontman after seeing injuries affect his striking options," The Daily Mail reported on Monday.
Park, who returned to the Gunners after a year-long spell with Celta Vigo in Spain, subsequently fell out of favor with Wenger and has not featured in a single game since the season kicked off.
His top priority is to find playing time as Korean national team manager Hong Myung-bo said it would be difficult to select anyone for the squad who is not playing regularly at club level.
With less than a year remaining until the 2014 World Cup, Park is hoping to earn his ticket to Brazil by flashing his skills on the pitch for Wigan.
Wigan was relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season after finishing in 18th place.
