Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Gear smart watch was launched on Wednesday to much fanfare, but consumers are already disgruntled at its W396,000 (US$1=W1,078) retail price.
For a start, the device's best functions require it to be connected to a Galaxy Note 3, the company's latest smartphone that was released on the same day with a price tag of W1.067 million.
Samsung said it will soon make the device compatible with other phones in its lineup. But it has no plan to link it up with other brands like Apple or LG.
At present, users can make calls, and send and receive texts and emails if they also own a Galaxy Note 3. Otherwise, it is only possible to check the time and take photos.
