Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers will start in an away game against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday (local time) as he guns for his 14th victory of the season.
Ryu had two objectives when he joined the Dodgers this season on his Major League Baseball debut -- to get at least 10 wins and keep his ERA below three. With 13 wins and seven losses, he is already half way there.
"My goal for the remaining games of the season is not to give up runs," he said. His ERA now stands at 3.03, meaning that he can potentially hit his target against the Giants.
Only 13 starting pitchers currently have ERAs below three.
