Sixty-one percent of Koreans believe the charges of plotting a rebellion against a United Progressive Party lawmaker while only 12 percent do not believe them, a Gallup poll released Friday suggests.
The remaining 27 percent said they do not know or did not answer.
UPP lawmaker Lee Seok-ki was stripped of his parliamentary immunity on Thursday and arrested for plotting to overthrow the democratic order.
Meanwhile, 64 percent also believe President Park Geun-hye is doing a good job, up three percentage points from the previous week and the highest since she took office.
The approval rating of her Saenuri Party was 43 percent, the main opposition Democratic Party’s 20 percent, the UPP’s one percent, and the Justice Party’s one percent.
Gallup Korea polled 913 adults nationwide from Tuesday through Thursday last week.
