Korea failed to pick up any medals at the World Rowing Championships in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, which wrapped up on Sunday. The host nation fielded a total of 47 rowers in 17 of the 27 events.
This year's championships were the largest to date, with over 1,900 athletes from 75 countries. Italy topped the gold medal tally with three gold, two silver and three bronze medals, the first time it has finished first since 2004. Australia was runner-up (3-2-1) and Great Britain came third (3-0-5).
Next year's championships will be held in Amsterdam from Aug. 24.
