Korea's major conglomerates are pumping more money into research and development this year.
According to findings from the Korea Exchange and the Financial Supervisory Service, the top 10 listed conglomerates spent more than 13 trillion won (US$1=1,118) on R&D in the first half of the year. That's a nearly 20 percent jump from the same period in 2012.
Samsung Electronics topped the list with an outlay of about $6 billion.
