Rising talent Kim Young-gyu played his first game in Spain's Primera Liga on Monday, becoming the fourth Korean to do so after Lee Chun-soo, Lee Ho-jin and Park Chu-young.
The 18-year-old winger for Almeria also broke Lee Chun-soo's record as the youngest Korean to play in Spain's top league. Lee was 22 on his debut for Real Sociedad a decade ago.
In the home game against Villarreal, Kim replaced attacking midfielder Fernando Soriano late in the second half and played for 13 minutes. Almeria lost 3-2.
Kim left for Spain at the end of 2009 to develop his football skills and is fluent in Spanish.
