Ryu Hyun-jin sustained his fourth loss of the season on Monday against the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park, giving up six hits, two walks, and three runs in seven and one-third innings.
He stepped down in the eighth with the Marlins leading 3-2 and the Los Angeles Dodgers went on to lose 6-2. His winning percentage dropped from first to third in the National League at .750, while his ERA edged up from 2.91 to 2.95.
It was Ryu's first loss since a game against the New York Yankees on June 19, putting an end to his six-game winning streak. He has pitched 155 and two-third innings this season, exceeding his pre-season expectation of 150. He will receive a US$250,000 bonus if he pitches over 170 this season.
The Dodgers have 38 games to go, with Ryu expected to start six or seven more times.
