Toby Dawson, coach of the Korean national freestyle skiing team, will marry Kim Yeon-ji, a former member of the national taekwondo team, in Seoul on Sept. 14.
Korean-adoptee Dawson (35) became a household name in Korea after he won a bronze medal for the U.S. in mogul skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
Like her father, Kim (32) became a world champion in the lightweight class of the Korean martial art, winning the World Taekwondo Championships twice in 2001 and 2003. She is now working with the Korean Olympic Committee after retiring from competition.
The two met two years ago while working on the bid committee for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games. "After the committee was disbanded, we kept in contact as friends and started dating last winter," said Kim.
Dawson is now training the national team in Nagano, Japan.
