The government will issue more multiple-entry visas for Chinese nationals and relax visa requirements for tourists from Southeast Asian nations from September, the Justice Ministry said on Sunday.
Under the more lax regulations, multiple-entry visas will be newly issued to spouses and teenage children of Chinese holders of such visas.
The move comes amid a surge in the number of visitors, due in part to the growing popularity of Korean popular culture in the region.
The ministry said it will also allow foreign patients to apply online for visas to facilitate medical stays at government-designated hospitals without having to visit Korean embassies.
