Sultry weather is gripping the entire country, with Thursday's temperatures in Seoul expected to soar to 35 degrees Celsius, the highest this year.
The Korea Meteorological Administration on Wednesday said the heat wave is the result of the Korean Peninsula coming under the influence of a North Pacific anticyclone while a hot air mass moves in from the southwest.
The heat wave will continue until next Wednesday, the KMA predicted.
Thursday's temperatures are expected to hover around 35 degrees across the country. Due to the humidity factor, the temperatures will feel like anywhere between 32 and 45 degrees.
Tropical nights when the mercury does not fall below 25 degrees will continue throughout the country.
