Korea's tourism deficit continues to spiral downward as the number of Koreans heading overseas exceeds the number of travelers visiting the country.
The Bank of Korea and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute said Wednesday that the nation's tourism deficit amounted to roughly US$1.8 billion in the first half of the year.
Approximately 5.5 million people visited the country over the period, while 7.2 million Koreans headed abroad.
