The Hotel Shilla in downtown Seoul is set to reopen on Thursday after six months of renovation work that began in January. It spent W83.5 billion (US$1=W1,112) on remodeling its rooms and swimming pool.
Peter Remedios, who designed the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, the Four Seasons in New York and the Grand Hyatt in Tokyo, worked on the renovation.
The executive lounges, which were previously scattered between the 14th and 20th floors, have now been combined into a penthouse suite on the 23rd floor with sweeping views of downtown Seoul and Mt. Nam, the hotel said.
The hotel has also added a heated outdoor pool so guests can swim during the winter. The pool is equipped with a bar offering food and beverages.
