North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's younger sister Yo-jong has been appointed head of ceremonies in the Workers Party, Radio Free Asia reported Friday citing an unnamed source.
The source told RFA that several officials who attended ceremonies since the death of former leader Kim Jong-il said Yo-jong was personally organizing ceremonies involving her brother. "It's widely whispered in the party that you have to get on Kim Yo-jong's good side if you want to invite Kim Jong-un to your ceremony," the source said.
Kim Yo-jong belongs to the Organization and Guidance Department within the party, which has the power to promote and vet officials in the party, government and military and is considered its inner sanctum.
Her post is usually held by a close confidant of the North Korean leader.
