Park In-bee became the first Korean golfer to appear on NBC's "Today Show" on Monday, following in the footsteps of "Gangnam Style" singer Psy. The 25-year-old commanded the world's attention on Sunday by claiming the third major of the season, a feat not seen in the women’s sport in over half a century.
Park showed off her fluent English skills on the show, which was broadcast live in front of the Rockefeller Center in New York.
"It's such a big thing for me… To put my name on the trophy has been such an honor," she said during the interview.
Park won her second U.S. Women's Open by hitting a final round 2-over 74 at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, New York, to card an unbeatable 8-under 280. This made her the first woman since Babe Zaharias in 1950 to sweep three straight majors on the U.S. LPGA Tour.
With six titles under her belt this season, Park could now achieve a grand slam by clinching four majors in the same calendar year if she wins either the British Open in August or the Evian Championship in September.
