Park In-bee carded an 8-under 280 on Sunday to reclaim her U.S. Women's Open title some five years after she won the event for the first time in 2008 and pick up her third straight major of the season.
The 25-year-old finished four stokes ahead of compatriot and runner-up Kim In-kyung at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, New York.
After clinching the Kraft Nabisco Championship and Wegmans LPGA Championship earlier this year, Park now ranks as only the second female golfer to have nabbed the first three majors of the season. American Babe Zaharias set the only precedent in 1950.
With six wins to her credit this season, no other Korean golfer has had a more successful season save Pak Se-ri, who pocketed five titles from 2001 to 2002.
The latest purse of US$585,000 takes her total prize money this year past the $2-million mark, keeping her in first place in both the money race and the world rankings.
