North Korea seems to be have been carrying out tunnel work at its nuclear test site in Punggye-ri, North Hamgyong Province since mid-April. The regime has so far conducted three nuclear tests at the site.
38 North, a website of the U.S.-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins University, said analysis of satellite images of Punggye-ri shows the North is carrying out new tunnel work at the western entrance of the nuclear test site. It added that the work seems to have picked up speed since it began in late April.
The North will unlikely conduct another nuclear test soon, but the tunnel work seems to be aimed at another test in the long term, 38 North said.
