Six South Korean sailors died in the clash with North Korea in the West Sea.
An official on Monday that Chung decided to donate money when he heard that the production had run into trouble. "If the film is completed and released, more people will recall the sacrifice of the soldiers who tried to defend the Northern Limit Line to the last," he added.
The Navy and the soldiers' families recently held a fund-raising bazaar for the film, and many prominent figures donated money.
