A Korean has become the first female tenured professor of mathematics at Yale University. The Korea Institute for Advanced Study on Wednesday said that Oh Hee (44) will start her job at Yale on July 1.

"I never thought I'm particularly bright," Oh said. "I still wrestle with math questions as if I'm at war with them."

After graduating from Seoul National University, Oh got her Ph.D from Yale. She previously taught at Princeton, California Institute of Technology and Brown.

Oh met her husband while studying at Yale, and the couple have a son and a daughter. "Because I had to move so many times, my husband had to quit his job many times. I couldn't have achieved what I did without his sacrifice and am very grateful for that," she said.
