Kim Yu-na has donated all of her prize money from the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships held in London, Ontario in March to UNICEF.

"Kim Yu-na donated US$45,000… and it will be used to help children with disabilities around the world," UNICEF Korea said on Monday.

In May 2011, when she won a silver medal at the World Championships in Moscow, Kim pledged her entire winnings of $27,000 to the same charity organization to help children who suffered from the massive earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Japan two months earlier.

Kim has been helping poverty-stricken children while serving as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since July 2010. To help quake victims in Haiti, she contributed W100 million (US$1=W1,108) in January 2010, as well as another $10,000 in August that she received as the recipient of the Proud Korean Award from the Korean-American Leadership Foundation.

"While serving as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, I realized that there is a still huge wall of prejudice against children with disabilities," said Kim. "I will continue to help those children to live a happy life."
