The Education Ministry unveiled Thursday on a government web portal (www.academyinfo.go.kr) key data for this year on 173 four-year universities across the nation, including tuition, the number of students per class and average grades.
The average tuition at four-year universities in Korea stands at W6.67 million (US$1=W1,113) per year, down 0.46 percent from last year. Tuition at state-run universities was W4.09 million, and the figure for private institutions stood at W7.33 million.
The most expensive was Eulji University in Daejeon (W8.25 million), followed by Yonsei University (W8.5 million), Korea Aerospace University (W8.47 million), Ewha Womans University (W8.4 million) and Chugye University for the Arts (W8.38 million).
The average tuition at universities in the Seoul metropolitan area was W7.59 million compared to W6.21 million for universities outside of capital.
