Kim Yu-na's Blackmailer Gets Suspended Jail Sentence

The Seoul Central District Court on Wednesday sentenced a man to eight months in prison, suspended for two years for blackmailing figure skater Kim Yu-na.

The man must regularly report to a nearby probation office and will be placed under regular supervision.

He was convicted of sending 47 threatening e-mails to Kim, apparently to prevent her from appearing in a beer commercial.

The court suspended the sentence because it was the man's first offense and he promised not to repeat it.

The day laborer was indicted in January this year. / Apr. 25, 2013 11:22 KST
