Prestigious European clubs such as Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool are currently trying to sign Hamburg SV striker Son Heung-min, according to local media.

"Son Heung-min is set to disappoint Arsenal and a host of top Premier League clubs by signing for Borussia Dortmund," Britain's newspaper Daily Star said on Sunday.

Dortmund now rank as one of the top two teams in the Bundesliga along with Bayern Munich. According to the daily, they are prepared to pay a transfer fee of up to 20 million pounds. Son's contract with Hamburg expires in June 2014.

Earlier, the Daily Mail and other British media said Tottenham recently began negotiating to sign the Korean star striker, offering 10 million pounds for his services. The Daily Mail wrote that the EPL club's owner has set aside a large sum of money for the young player, and that Son's value will likely rise in the future.

However, Hamburg are reluctant to part with ways with Son, who has already scored 11 goals this season. In a recent interview reported on FIFA's official website, Hamburg director Frank Arnesen said, "Son, with his 20 years, is one of the players we would really like to keep hold of." He added that they will offer better terms than other clubs to extend his contract.

Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink also said he wants to keep Son on the books for an extended period given the player's huge potential.
