The U.S. International Trade Commission on Wednesday delayed until May a final ruling on whether Apple infringed Samsung Electronics' patents.
The commission asked both sides to submit opinions on what effect a ban of Apple products manufactured overseas will have on the U.S. market, whether there are alternative products available, and how to determine reasonable royalties.
This is the fourth time the ITC has delayed its final ruling in the case. Samsung filed the complaint with the ITC last June, arguing that Apple mobile products like iPhones, iPods and iPads violate its patents.
The ITC said it needs more time to investigate what effect banning the affected Apple products from the U.S. would have on the American smartphone and tablet PC markets.
