Software tycoon Ahn Cheol-soo on Monday expressed hope to "work together" with people who share his views if he is elected to the National Assembly. He was speaking on return from a lengthy stay in the U.S.
The remark has stoked speculation that the popular entrepreneur means to form his own political party after the April by-election, where he is a candidate for Seoul’s Nowon district.
Ahn, who pulled out of the presidential race at the last minute despite enjoying strong support, said that he was sorry for "failing to realize the hopes of the public" of political reforms due to his "shortcomings and lack of preparation."
He spent 82 days in the U.S. after an apparently bruising experience with the Democratic United Party in the process of fielding a single opposition candidate.
