An increasing number of teachers are subject to verbal abuse and violence from students and their parents.

According to the Korean Federation of Teachers Associations on Monday, 158 such cases were reported last year, up 37.4 percent from 2011.

Given that many cases are unreported, the actual figure is believed to be much higher.
