Passengers on U.S.-bound flights will be permitted to carry pen knives, golf clubs, hockey sticks, pool cues and baseball bats from April 25, according to relaxed regulations announced by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration on Tuesday.
This is the first time since the September 11 attacks that small knives will be allowed onboard, and the TSA insisted that flight attendants will be able to prevent incidents involving the newly permitted items.
The new rules are expected to reduce wait times at security checkpoints.
