Yoon Do-hyun, the lead singer of the celebrated rock band YB, will take the helm of the talent management agency representing him. There have been cases of entertainers setting up their own talent management agencies, but this is the first time a star has seized control of the agency he belongs to.
Kim Young-joon, the current head of Daeum Entertainment, in a press release Wednesday said, "I am trying to open what others have referred to as a new chapter in my life. Now, the company will start on a new voyage with a new captain, Yoon Do-hyun."
Kim is abroad after having worked on the election campaign of an opposition candidate during last year's presidential election.
Besides YB, Daeum Entertainment manages singer Kim C, TV show host Kim Jae-dong and others.
"Yoon knows the company well and has been trained by Kim on how to manage the business, so he probably won't find it too difficult to do the job," said one staffer at the agency. He did not say whether Yoon holds any shares in the company.
