Chung Hong-won, the first prime minister of the Park Geun-hye administration, was sworn into office on Tuesday afternoon.
In a full session earlier the same day, the National Assembly approved his nomination by a vote of 197-67 with eight votes invalid, or 72.4 percent in favor.

Assuming that all lawmakers from the ruling Saenuri Party approved his nomination, 60 to 70 or about half of the members of the main opposition Democratic United Party present at the session also voted in favor.
Born in Hadong, South Gyeongsang Province, Chung graduated from Sungkyunkwan University.
