Visitors and residents alike will be able to see the highlights of Seoul, as well as some of its lesser-known charms, while traveling aboard an open top double-decker bus from Friday courtesy of a new tour program.

The course will provide glimpses of everyday life in the capital while also promoting shopping, local culture, food and fashion at small open-air markets. For instance, at Gwangjang Market, visitors can stroll through an alleyway full of stores selling hanbok, or traditional Korean dress, and take in the unique atmosphere while sampling some of its specialty food stalls and other shopping items.

One open top and two closed double-decker buses will ply the new market course at 35-minute intervals. This is in addition to the five other routes already covered by the Seoul City Tour Bus.

Tourists can hop on and off at will. There will also be guides working in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese and French to keep travelers keyed in to the storied past and present of the area. Full-day tickets will cost W12,000 for adults or W8,000 for children.

For more information about the new market route, call 1544-4239, or dial 02-777-6090 to find out more about the five older tour courses.
