The cost of a movie ticket at CGV has increased to W10,000 for the first time in four years, Korea's largest multiplex announced on its website Wednesday.

Weekday tickets, which previously cost W8,000, now cost W9,000 after 4 p.m., and on weekends, the ticket price increased to W10,000 from W9,000. The ticket price for movies before 4 p.m. or after 11 p.m. was reduced to W6,000 from W8,000.

With the hike, other movie theaters are expected to follow suit.
