The Korea Skating Union awarded speed skater Lee Sang-hwa a check worth W10 million on Tuesday in recognition of her setting a new world record of 36.80 seconds in the women's 500 m at the ISU World Cup in Calgary, Canada, on Jan. 21. Lee is the first Korean female skater to set a world record at any distance.
