NCsoft posted record earnings in the fourth quarter, it said on Tuesday. Its sales rose 104 percent on-year to W283.4 billion, while its operating profit jumped 654 percent to W113.2 billion (US$=1,088). The online game developer also saw annual sales grow to a previously unmatched W753.5 billion in 2012.
Its record earnings were largely due to brisk sales of Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) like Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul, both of which were released last year.
Its hit game series Lineage, which has been popular for the last decade, also posted record sales in 2012 to contribute to the stellar results.
Domestic sales accounted for 43 percent of total revenue during the quarter. North America came second with 25 percent, followed by Europe (18 percent) and Japan (7 percent).
