The slimmer the waist of a woman, the more sexually attractive she is, research seems to confirm.
A team led by Prof. Stuart Brody at the University of West Scotland in the U.K. analyzed a sample of 699 men and 715 women between 35 and 65 and looked at indicators such as men's perception of women's sexual attractiveness, their sexual satisfaction, and the partner's waist size.
The result showed that the younger the men and the slimmer the waist of the female partner, the higher the men's sexual satisfaction and potency.
According to Brody, the circumference of a woman's waist is related to various illnesses such as heart diseases, and therefore men seem instinctively to choose women with a slimmer waist for optimal reproduction. But he added that men in general find slimmer women more attractive.
Women with a slimmer waist also had a higher level of sexual satisfaction. The researchers speculate that women's abdominal body fat may decrease their own sexual desire through neurohormonal mechanisms.
The study was published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.
