Rain Sweeps Across Korea on Friday

Unseasonally heavy rain started falling across the nation on Friday. Southern coastal regions, Jeju Island and areas around Mt. Jiri were forecast to get more than 80 mm of rainfall accompanied by high winds and thunder.

"A lot of moisture has gathered carried by southwesterly winds and the southern part of the country will see between 20 to 60 mm of rainfall, while Seoul and the central region will have from 10 to 40 mm of rainfall and the eastern part of Gangwon Province between five to 20 mm," the Korea Meteorological Administration said.

The rain will stop late in the day in most parts of the country. Weathermen warned of heavy winds in coastal areas.
