Ryu Hyun-jin, who is awaiting his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been named one of the club’s five "breakout players of 2013" by the Bleacher Report.
"The Dodgers have a good history of recruiting international prospects, especially pitchers," wrote Jeremy Dorn, a featured columnist for the U.S. sports magazine on Tuesday.
"You have to like Ryu's immense success in Korea, his youth and the fact that he's a southpaw. There won't be much pressure on the guy like there was on Yu Darvish last year, as Ryu will be the fourth starter in Los Angeles, at best."
Dorn also added, "I'm not expecting a massive win total from Ryu in his first MLB season, but if he stays healthy and posts and ERA in the 3.50 range, I would not be shocked at all."
Ryu, who leaves for the U.S. on Wednesday, will start his new life as an MLB player by meeting fans on Saturday.
