Hong Myung-bo, former manager of Korea's Olympic football team, was ranked the world's 15th best national coach in 2012 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics on Saturday.

He earned five points along with Ukraine's Oleh Blokhin and Switzerland's Ottmar Hitzfeld. Vicente del Bosque, who guided Spain to 2012 European Championship title, was the overwhelming leader with 231 points.

Hong led Korea to its first-ever Olympic medal in the sport when the team grabbed bronze at last year's London Olympics.

Meanwhile, Lee Woon-jae, who announced his retirement last month, was the highest-ranked Asian in the same organization's Best Goalkeeper of the 21st Century list. Lee, who was instrumental in helping Korea get to the semifinals of the 2002 World Cup, earned 13 points to finish 43rd. Italy's Gianluigi Buffon topped the list with 218 points, just one ahead of Spain's Iker Casillas.
