LG Electronics has launched the world's first 55-inch OLED TV, it announced on Wednesday.
OLED displays can more closely reflect natural colors than LCD screens. They have been widely used in small devices like smartphones, but manufacturers have struggled to mass produce large panels for TVs due to technical difficulties.
LG Electronics said the new TV is just 4 mm thin, weighs 10kg and retails for W11 million (US$1=W1.064). The company started displaying it at 32 shops nationwide from Wednesday and is now receiving pre-orders. Deliveries will begin early next month, it said.
