Forward Ji Dong-won is set to be reunited with former teammate Koo Ja-cheol as German Bundesliga club Augsburg has signed the 21-year-old on a loan deal until the end of the season, Britain's Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

Augsburg, which ended the first half of the season 17th in Germany's top flight with just one win, six draws and 10 losses, reportedly hopes the two will reprise their successful partnership from representing their country to help the club escape the relegation zone.

The Bundesliga will resume on Jan. 19 and Augsburg's first match is against Dusseldorf two days later.

Ji signed with Sunderland in June 2011 and scored his first goal for the team against Chelsea last season, most of which he spent on the bench.

"He's found it difficult to cope with the physical aspect of the game. But he has natural talent," Black Cats Manager Martin O'Neill said at a press conference this week.
