Hong Myung-Bo, the most capped player in Korea, has reportedly approached Guus Hiddink about the prospect of learning under him by serving as an assistant at Anzhi Makhachkala, the Russian Premier League club now coached by the legendary Dutchman.

Hong led Korea to its first-ever medal in an Olympic football tournament this year by steering it to bronze in London, while Hiddink has become something of a national treasure in Korea after leading the team to the semifinals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Hong is known to have been sending his resume to clubs in England but to little avail.

Hiddink has apparently asked Anzhi for permission to hire Hong and is awaiting a final decision. If he gets the green light, Hong will be able to gain invaluable experience from one of the best coaches in the sport.
