Korean baseball enjoyed a bumper year in 2012, with attendance levels shooting up and the number of public and private playing grounds rising 61.5 percent.
The Korea Baseball Organization said on Thursday that the number of baseball grounds nationwide now stands at 260, up from 161 last year. The figure was calculated based on data provided by local governments and is considered more accurate than previous surveys in recent years.
The total number of spectators at professional baseball games passed the 7-million mark for the first time in the 2012 season.
