A list of the Top 100 Global Innovators for this year includes seven Korean businesses and institutions.

They are Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, LS Cable, Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and University of Science and Technology.

Thomson Reuters' list is compiled from patent-related metrics.

The New York-based corporation said the results show that Korea's academic and research institutions have achieved successful long-term cooperation with industry.
