Korean babies born last year are expected to live until the average age of 81, up five years from a decade ago.
A report released by Statistics Korea on Tuesday said the life expectancy of a baby boy born in 2011 is 78 years and for a baby girl 85 years.
About 1 percent of males and 4 percent of females are expected to live until 100.
Male babies in Korea have a life expectancy around one year longer than the OECD average, while female babies are expected to live an average of two years longer.
